John Denver is a popular musician and singer who has been able to touch many with his songs. A lot of them have roots in Colorado. He was born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico he fell in love with Colorado and eventually moved to Aspen. Denver's songs for his home state have drawn many to Colorado. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame says the fact that John Denver is unlike any other artist who embodies Colorado. Denver was the Hall of Fame's first ever to be inducted. He is the face of Colorado for a lot of people around the world. On my trips I've encountered people from New Zealand or the other side. When you tell that you're from Colorado, the first words they say are Oh John Denver. Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads was one of Denver's top 10 hits following a performance with a smaller folk groups. The song was written and performed by Bill Danoff. Danoff had written the song inspired by Johnny Cash, but Denver discovered an early version of the song and realized it would become a top 10 hit. The song was first recorded a few weeks after the Washington D.C. performance.
